Fearlessly exploring new directions in her music, Bryony Morgan, inhabits an exotic realm of smoky blues and swamp-rock that draws its life-blood from deep roots in early American blues and jazz.
"With a fusion of Rock, Jazz, Funk and Blues, Bryony Morgan, is breaking all the rules by crossing genres, in a way that will undoubtedly take her to the top of charts in no time." Lee Koumarianos, Music Industry Photographer.
Building on her recently released "Bryony Morgan and the Megalomaniacs," she is currently recording a new solo album. Bryony Morgan's music and narratives express the deepest of yearnings and human experience, drawn from such influences as Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Neil Young, Mark Lanegan, Nina Simone and Jim Morrison, and so, giving birth to an original take on a traditional sound.
"Bryony's strong songwriting and expressive voice serve to set her apart from the current pack of roots revivalists." Matthew Frederick, PBS Radio, Melbourne.
Morgan's early solo career started when her unique vocal talents were noticed by prolific blues artist Joe Dolce who invited her to join the Darebin Music for the Future Mentor Program.
"A truly soulful singer, and an excellent and original guitar stylist, which is extremely rare. I was honoured to play with her on stage." Joe Dolce
Morgan also received early recognition for her idiosyncratic sound and songwriting craft from renowned local artists Kavisha Mazzella, David Bridie, Monica Weightman and Kutcha Edwards. The 2005 release of Morgan's solo EP 'Little Blues Singer' led to her performing at numerous festivals around Australia, recognition at the Jaxter Artists Awards as well as solid airplay on Triple R, ABC National, 3CR, SYN FM and Planet Radio, Brisbane.
Currently she is performing solo, as well as with her band The Megalomaniacs in Melbourne venues, with further plans to tour. Both 'Little Blues Singer' (2005) and 'Bryony Morgan and the Megalomaniacs' (2009) are getting airplay on stations across Europe.
"A great voice and not part of the same old scene. Well worth a listen and a play. It's refreshing to hear someone like this." Tim Ritchie, Presentation and Production Editor, ABC Radio National.
